Senior Data Scientist

Responsibilities:

  • Gaining a broad understanding of the payments business and becoming a subject matter expert with respect to applying predictive modeling within the business
  • Providing advanced statistical subject matter expertise advisory to our clients’ leaders on both an ad hoc and project basis
  • Collaborating with senior business owners to identify opportunities for predictive modeling and advanced statistics and extracting problem specification into an appropriate analytical framework
  • Understanding a wide variety of predictive modeling solution approaches in detail, assessing candidate methodologies for appropriateness and selecting the most promising methodology to apply
  • Executing on a variety of methodologies to generate sufficiently robust predictive models including appropriate solution validation;  There will be some degree of data wrangling required
  • Effectively communicating solution methodology, validation results, and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentoring both peers and more junior team members with respect to your expertise and approach
  • Executing independently on special projects / ad-hoc assignments as required with the ability to assume assignments that are highly complex and do not have a clear solution
  • Provide technical leadership across a broad range of data analysis functions including data modeling, structured query language (SQL), data quality, data profiling, metadata enrichment and management, data provenance and lineage and other specialized data management functions
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of data available from upstream sources and data within various platforms
  • Contribute to the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of data governance, data quality, and related policies

Experience & Skill Set:

  • Masters Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline
  • 7 years of experience working with various data sources and relational databases
  • 5 years of applied predictive modeling
  • Deep understanding (details) of statistical modeling and machine learning methods
  • Ability to work with various data sources, experience with relational databases
  • Python and/or R; Must have credible, practical experience with at least two of various regression methodologies, clustering, binary classification, mathematical optimization, statistical/machine learning methodologies
  • Intermediate statistics
  • Proficient with SQL
