Job Purpose
The Corporate Controller is a key position in the Finance department. This position has the primary responsibility to manage the General Accounting Function in line with Client policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING & REPORTING
- Direct the financial accounting and reporting function (general accounting and accounts payable)
- Provide guidance on accounting treatment for complex, operational requirements
- Direct the production and validation of company financials in accordance with IFRS principles and methodology as well as Canadian and/or US GAAP
- Monthly review of balance sheet reconciliation and financial performance
FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS
- Support the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function
- Ensure timely provision of accurate month-end reporting deliverables to the Reporting team and other stakeholders
INVENTORY CONTROL & COSTING
- Direct the inventory control and costing function
- Oversee inventory accounting and reporting for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure timely update of standard costs (annually), monthly variance analysis and timely resolution
TAXATION
- Key responsibility for tax compliance
- Coordinate annual Income Tax filings with an external tax advisor and ensure timely installment payments as required
- Ensure timely remittance of commodity and other taxes (payroll, EHT, etc.) as well as filing requirements
FINANCIAL CONTROLS
- Key contact for internal/external audits
- Ensure compliance with internal controls company-wide and provide guidance as required on new or re-engineered processes
Key Requirements
- CA-CPA with undergraduate degree preferred – other Professional Accounting designation (CGA/CMA) with an undergraduate degree will be considered with relevant business experience
- Minimum 5 – 8 years management experience in a fast-paced, multinational
environment - Experience with large complex and technical businesses is ideal
- Strong ERP experience – SAP preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven track record in managing teams and developing people
